Announcements
Hello to yarnladee! That's Janie, originally from Georgia, now living in Florida, who has both knitted and crocheted for 51 years. If you haven’t already done so, please say hello in the Kino Knits Ravelry group Introduce Yourself thread!
Xeric Socks are top-down heel-flap-and-gusset socks written for four sizes. Soothing knit and purl texture was exactly what I wanted to knit at the beginning of this pandemic. Kino Knits newsletters subscribers get 40% off through June 27, 2020. BlueberryChick Yarn has one skein of Mrs. Ross colorway in stock as of recording!
As a reminder, June 2020 profits from the sales of Kino Knits self-published patterns will go to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which "is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society."
The Knitting on Safari Collection is still on sale! This collection features:
- Cape Town Protea, a single-skein asymmetrical triangle shawl, released May 16
- Nairobi Adventures, a two-skein crescent shawl, released June 6
- Zanzibar Waves, a three-skein rectangular choose-your-own-adventure shawl, released July 3
The collection will be on sale for just $5 total through 11:59 PM Eastern on July 5 with Ravelry coupon code LETSGO - or just click here to apply the code automatically. If you buy before all the patterns are available, they will automatically pop into your Ravelry library as they are released on the dates listed above.
New tutorial videos posted in anticipation of releasing Zanzibar Waves:

The Drunk Knitter MKAL Book Club: June 8-July 6, 2020: The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison and the Pecola shawl. Will use 150g set from Suburban Stitcher.
Henry's Hat by Joanna Johnson ($3 via Ravelry) in 100% Cormo rainbow handspun, spun in 2015.
Spinning
Washed (for the second time) the last of my Romney fleece for the #sistersheepspin. Now on the 7th of 9 bobbins I'll spin before I ply.
As of June 15, 2020, I've spun 88 days out of my total goal of 200 for 2020.
Started washing "Sweetie," the half-fleece I bought as part of this year's virtual Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival: chocolate CVM Romeldale from Pheasantfield Farm in Chestertown, MD.
Finish or Frog?
Karin Tote (pattern discontinued) by Nina Isaacson in Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky (100% wool, 137 yards/100 g) in the Wallaby colorway. Sewed a fabric lining and then stitched that in.
Sewing
In addition to the Karin lining above, more face masks from Craft Passion. These match my bedroom curtains.
Other Crafting
Started a rag rug using this method.
